Cold brewing is a method that steeps coffee grounds in cold water for an extended period—typically 12 to 24 hours—resulting in a smooth, low-acid brew with rich, mellow flavors. A coarse grind is ideal for this process because it allows for a slow, even extraction without over-extracting bitter compounds. Finer grinds can lead to cloudy brews and undesirable sharpness, while coarse grounds help maintain the clarity, sweetness, and refreshing character that define a great cold brew.
